Fisher-Price Super Spiral Speedway Review
After considering pricier options and reading the reviews, I opted to give this car ramp a try for our son’s 2nd birthday. I knew what had been delivered as soon as I picked up the box and heard the “vroom” crackle from inside the box. Big sis (almost 5) squealed with delight, certain that her brother would love whatever was inside.
The longevity has yet to be seen, as we’ve had this opened about 2 hours. However, so far both kids love it. Our space is limited, so a larger track that he might grow into was out of the question this time around. When I opened the box, I was initially disappointed in the size, it seemed smaller than I had expected. But it does the job. Both cars that were included work fine, and perhaps even more importantly, our other brand race cars (matchbox/hotwheels) work great, including the ambulance. (The mini tonka cars are too large for this track.) If a little too much force is applied, sometimes one will fly off the track a bit early, but I would not call that a defect. (If too much force is applied to a gas pedal and a person swerves off the road, typically the responding officer would find the driver at fault.)
The dual lane allows the kiddos to race each other, at least in their own minds. Perhaps if I were scientific I could use it for physics lessons, but I’m not that motivated. However, I could potentially see my kids rolling marbles or bouncy balls down them in the future.
Big sis had fun hanging vehicles from the lever with her silly bands, both enjoyed pushing their choice of cars down the track, and our son exclaimed “get set go!” (Even with the lever, they seem to prefer an old fashioned shove from the top.)
My only complaint so far is that there is not a power switch for the sound.
Amazon’s shipping/delivery via super-saver was prompt… no need to expedite when ordered a week before it was needed.
Our model is the one with the yellow ramp, purple, orange and blue accents pictured in the photos.
